  • Easter Service

    Our Easter Service was held in St Anne’s Church on Thursday 29th March. All the children took part in the service, singing the hymns and songs with enthusiasm and feeling. The youngest children reflected the feelings of Holy Week showing happy and sad faces at the different events. The Year 6 girls sang a beautiful ballad to reflect Mary’s despair on Good Friday.

  • Musical Concert

    On Friday 16th March Dr Lara James and Mr Andrew Marples came into school to play us ‘Spring’ by Vivaldi on the violin and piano. First they explained the different elements of the composition, so we could listen out for them. They then played the complete work. It was an amazing performance and the children and staff were enthralled.

  • Olympic Week

    In March we had a fantastic week to celebrate the London Olympics. A special Olympic torch arrived from Pilsley School to launch our event. During the week all the children took part in a heptathlon of activities based on the Olympic and Paralympic values. At the end of the week we had a medals ceremony, with three boys and three girls in each class being awarded, gold, silver or bronze medals. The winners then ran the torch to Curbar School to begin their event.

  • School Council Assembly

    On Friday 23rd March the School Council organised a special assembly on the theme of music. They organised the musicians, who played brilliantly. They also read poetry and prayers. The children thoroughly enjoyed the musical competition. A big well done to everyone involved.

  • Pancake Party

    On Shrove Tuesday we were really lucky to be invited by the Methodist Church in Baslow to celebrate with a Pancake Party after school. Everyone enjoyed tossing and eating the pancakes.

  • Shape Day

    On Thursday 9th February we had a special day in school dedicated to learning about 'shape' in maths. Every class spent the day making shapes, patterns and solving puzzles. It was great fun!

  • Fountain of Life

    On Thursday 9th February we wore our own clothes to school to raise money for 'Fountain of Life' one of our school's charities. Fountain of Life run a children's home in India for desperately disadvantaged children.

  • Pride of Baslow Award

    Cara-Jane from Class 5 was this week's pride of Baslow Award winner. Cara-Jane has done some brilliant work with the infant classes and had been exceptionally sensitive and caring when working with the younger children.

  • Bolsover Castle visit

    On Monday 28th November Classes 1 and 2 visited Bolsover Castle. They toured the ruins of the Great Terrace, the Splendour of the Little Castle and exhibitions of The Riding School with a real-life knight.

    To complete the day 'Sir Kevin' demonstrated his skills using the crossbow and longbow.
