  • Pride of Baslow Award

    Cara-Jane from Class 5 was this week's pride of Baslow Award winner. Cara-Jane has done some brilliant work with the infant classes and had been exceptionally sensitive and caring when working with the younger children.

  • Bolsover Castle visit

    On Monday 28th November Classes 1 and 2 visited Bolsover Castle. They toured the ruins of the Great Terrace, the Splendour of the Little Castle and exhibitions of The Riding School with a real-life knight.

    To complete the day 'Sir Kevin' demonstrated his skills using the crossbow and longbow.

  • BBC Children In need Appeal

    The children had a great time today and raised a marvellous total of £408-50 for the BBC's Children In Need Appeal. All the children made their own Pudsey the Bear T-Shirts which were judged during a grand parade in the afternoon. The Year 6 and some of the Year 5 children ran games stalls and sold cakes (donated by families) at the end of the school day. Well done everyone for this fantastic result.

  • Art Club launched

    Some of our Year 6 pupils are giving up their lunchtimes to run an Art Club for children in the Infants. They plan all their own art activities and produce some lovely ideas.

  • Operation Christmas Child

    Our Operation Christmas Child shoe box appeal resulted in a fantastic 86 shoeboxes, beating our previous record. The shoeboxes filled with donated items are sent out to less fortunate children throughout the world to help bring a little bit of Christmas joy. Lots of people made two boxes, which was brilliant, and special mention must go to Ella Lukic in Year 5 who made four boxes.

  • Energy Bar

    Children in Year 6 enjoyed going to Lady Manners' School to design and make an 'energy bar' as part of our Olympic project.

  • Knights and Castles

    Our Key Stage one topic 'Knights and Castles' is proving very popular, especially in Class1 as the role play area is a castle complete with drawbridge and a fantastic banqueting suite!

  • Collective Worship

    The children greatly enjoyed the Parable of the Sower being told by 'Uncle Michael' from Matlock Area Schools Trust during today's Collective Worship.The telling of the parable involved a very noisey crow.

  • Theatre Visit

    On Thursday 29th September the 'Footprint Theatre Company' performed for all the children. Steve told us the story of "Thor's Giant Problem" - a well known Viking legend. The children all took part with enthusiasm.
